Fine Custom Saddles
Artistic Beauty and Function
The best saddles made are those that have a perfect blend of Artistic Beauty and Function. This is my goal with every saddle I build, whether I build a plain or fully carved masterpiece. I pay close attention to the details, the saddle tree, the ground seat, rigging placement, stitching, the smoothness of the stamping, and the clean crisp feel of the carving. With my passion for drawing, I approach every saddle as an art form. The designing, constructing, and carving a saddle proves to be a challenge every time, but it is extremely rewarding when I finish each and every one by hand. So if you're looking for a saddle that is different from the rest, you've come to the right place. Most people do not realize that there are approximately one hundred individual pieces to a saddle. They have to fit together smooth and tight. This is why I feel it is important to be particular when I make my saddles, from choosing the right tree, to the last stitch on the cantle. I want my customers completely comfortable and satisfied that they not only have a saddle that is functionly strong, fit their horse, last for future generations, but also have an artistic masterpiece made from the highest quality materials. I ship my saddles world wide and look forward to building your custom dream saddle.
The Saddle Tree
I build all my saddles on Handmade Saddle Trees. They are made of the highest quality materials. The wood is specifically hand selected of multiple different cured woods and then wrapped in rawhide from bulls making them extremely strong and durable. Each tree is custom made to order to fit the horse and rider, since no two horses or riders are the same. I offer a wide variety of trees and seat sizes to select from to fit your needs.
The Ground Seat
A well constructed Ground Seat is key for all saddles. The main functions of the ground seat is to assist the rider to sit balanced and correct along with closeness of contact. What sets my seats apart from other saddle makers is that many overlook the main funtions of the seat to increase seat comfort. The moment you sit in my saddle you immediately feel the saddle is "Broke In". I take the extra time to hand make each seat as comfortable as possible and maximizing the closeness of contact with horse and rider, without compromising any functions of the seat.
Hardware and Materials
Only the best is used in my shop. The saddles are constructed with Hermann Oak Leather and Memory Foam for the quilted seats. The hardware is made of either Solid Brass or Stainless Steel. I only use Stainless steel nails and screws to assemble the saddles as well. This will extend the longevity of your saddles and minimize the risk of something needing to be repaired in the future, because the hardware will not rust and erode form moisture or sweat from the horse.
Attention to Detail
I take my time during construction of a saddle to pay close attention to the details. I strive to make sure that each saddle is as comfortable as possible for the rider and horse. The stirrups are turned to ease strain on the legs and the fenders have a full range of movement. I also take the time to add leather plugs and strategically taper them so that there is a smooth transition between the rigging and the skirts to minimize snagging of the fender straps. I go as far as doming the rivets to make sure your saddle has that clean finished look. I want my customers to feel fullfilled.
Works of Art
Although Basket Weave or Floral Patterns are traditionally seen on every saddle and are a traditional yet beautiful look, those designs are a staple in classic Western Saddle History. Do not be afraid to express yourself. I am an Artist, and there is nothing more enjoyable for me than to help you reveal and showcase on a custom made saddle your uniqueness. Whether it be humming birds or skull and cross bones, maybe even something sentimental, no request is out of the ordinary. I encourage all my customers to step out of the box and let their creativity flow. "If I can draw it, then I can tool it.™"
